Summer is here and it felt like a good time to switch things up a bit on my radio show. So, for the next few weeks I’m going to be introducing you to some talented and hard-working artists who are creating things outside of the design field I normally talk about. Not just because I like talking to creative people of all types, but because I think there’s so much to be learned from anyone who’s finding a way to bring their art into the world successfully, whether that’s music, food, dance or film.
When I sat down to start this series the very first person on my list to invite was musician . Most of you who’ve been reading D*S for a while know that music is a huge part of my life. I’m constantly searching for new bands and musicians to listen to and I can say, without a doubt, that Mal is my favorite musician I’ve discovered in the last few years. Her songwriting is simply beautiful. She tells stories in a way that not only makes them feel relatable to your own life, but in a way that also feels deeply personal, as if you’re almost getting to know Mal through her music. Her latest album, , came out this spring and I cannot recommend it more highly. If you’re looking for an album to play on repeat this summer, this is it. From seriously catchy tracks about (check out the , too) to hauntingly beautiful tracks that make me stop everything to sit and listen closely to them, Mal’s latest album is a must-have. She was kind enough to join me in the station on a rainy day to answer some questions and play my favorite song “” on-air. Whether you’re interesting in learning about the DIY mentality behind Mal’s work or just want to hear a beautiful song, you’ll definitely want to stop and listen to her episode. Thanks so much to Mal for joining me. You can check out her website or follow her on Twitter . xo, grace
