Elevating Plates: 13 Creative Plate Wall Displays
I love a plate wall. Great plates feel like works of art to me, so elevating (literally and figuratively) them to the level of traditional wall art has always felt right. I love when plate walls are simple and traditional and follow standard symmetrical shapes (we have two in our home, below), but I’ve loved seeing the way modern designers and homeowners have turned the tradition on its head by embracing more whimsical wall designs and mi in everyday plates and other objects. Today I’m celebrating 13 of my favorite, from minimal monochrome designs like the one above to patterned neon styles. xo, grace

Last but not least, Lisa Congdon’s old SF apartment was the plate wall that launched a thousand more plate walls. I love the artful flow of the plates.

The Oyster House in Philly displays plates to great effect, injecting some color into a neutral color scheme. What’s more, the plates are vintage dishes meant for seafood that suit the culinary offerings wonderfully. See pics here: and here: .

Plate displays, when done well can be such a fun home decor flair. I love finding uniquely shaped plates and creating DIY patterns on them. Mi the patterned with solid plates makes an even more drastic impact, great idea!
Great feature. I looked at the Oyster House site and it’s beautiful. The plates displayed give the space so much soul and charm. And I love seeing pics of Grace’s beautiful home.
I love this!! I’m such a fan of a plate wall but haven’t done one in our new home… thinking it might be dated but these chic examples have me climbing back into my plate closet for my favorites!
