When walks into her one-bedroom apartment in the Neukölln neighborhood of Berlin, Germany, a sense of calmness and gratitude embraces her. “It’s the first place away from home I got to call my home,” she explains. Maggie has lived here for nine years, during which she’s turned the post-war 60s home into her personal haven. For over 10 years, Maggie owned , a vintage shop and cafe in Neukölln that served as a bustling hub for creatives, freelancers and small business owners. She also founded Neukölln Schatzkarte, a treasure map highlighting small businesses in her neighborhood. Today, Maggie works as a in both Berlin and London, where she grew up. After the success of her “Crown Your Glory” floristry workshop series as well as , her pioneering sustainable flower business, Maggie set up in 2017, an organization for progressive, holistic mental wellness and health. Through her numerous projects, Maggie has become a prominent and supportive figure in Berlin’s creative community.
With her focus on floral arrangements and well-being, it’s no wonder that Maggie’s home reflects just that. Ever since moving in, she has felt a strong connection to the energies in each room in her home. To emphasize and project various feelings throughout the apartment, Maggie has opted for colors that suit different moods — calming peach for the walls, creativity-inspiring yellow for the kitchen, and jade green doors for good luck. “Colors can create feelings and emotions and transport you to a different place or time,” Maggie also tells us. Besides floral arrangements, which you’ll find adorning each corner of the 540-square-foot apartment, vintage treasures from dresses to furniture make Maggie’s home the rela and inviting space she’s always dreamed of. “I’m very spontaneous, and I go with my gut feeling when deciding to change things,” Maggies says, “But most of all, I want people to feel happy in my home.” —
