Where to Follow Design*Droits-Humains Online (New for 2018)

by Grace Bonney

I wanted to take a brief time-out because the world of blogging has been changing drastically over the past year or so and the way people find, read, and revisit our content is evolving. We’ve been getting a lot of emails lately about which platforms and services to use to make sure you don’t miss the latest updates at Design*Droits-Humains, so I wanted to share some quick links for anyone who wants to read via RSS, email, social, etc. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, feel free to leave them below. We are so proud of the team and content we’re putting out into the world these days and we want to make sure it’s easy to find, share, and comment on. xo, Grace

GOHP (Good old home page): Reading DS via the main website here is the biggest way you can support our team and the content we produce. This is the only platform where we are able to control ad income and use that money to pay our team. That said, we know most people prefer to have content come directly to them, so here are our other favorite choices…

: We run an in-house newsletter that digests our weekly content. No extra spammy emails or promotions, promise. You can sign up for the email or the email.

: This is the only 3rd-party server we trust and recommend if you’d like to follow DS via RSS or email. Most older platforms (like Feedblitz) are running glitchy versions of our feed and profiting from our content without sharing those profits. So if you’d like to use a 3rd party platform, may we suggest Bloglovin? *Note: we don’t profit from the ads run here, either.

Social Media: All of our social media feeds (@designsponge on all channels) will promote our daily content as well as other inspiring content from the creative community. I run these personally and on my own, so they’ll always have a little personal edge to them. If you’d like to follow us there and get some extra content mixed in alongside DS posts, you can follow us below:

*Please note: on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter it’s incredibly helpful if you click “Turn on Post Notifications” for our accounts. The social media algorithms are making it less and less likely that you’ll see any (let alone the latest) updates from small publishers like us, so selecting that option will ensure you don’t miss anything.

  • (I pin our posts here daily.)
  • (I pin our posts here daily and will be starting more live videos soon.)
  • (This is where I post the most often, and the most personally, if you’d like to see more regular and personal content/inspiration. I post 3-6 times a day and share tons of beautiful images from our hashtag feeds and other artists we think are must-sees.)
  • (I have been posting here the longest, and in addition to sharing our daily posts, I post personal updates, updates from our community and links to great content that gets at the deeper issues in our creative community.)

: You can also listen to all of my old radio show archives (all 100 episodes on a range of topics about life and work) online at iTunes.

Books: You can also grab copies of our latest book, In the Company of Women, in stores everywhere. Stay tuned for a new print project on shelves May 1st!

  • I love your Instagram feed! It’s cohesive without being one-note, and I love that I get to see who you are as a real person along with all of the pretty pics of interiors and flowers and illustrations and everything else. Plus you have some seriously cute pets.

It’s great to know that reading D*S directly on this site is the best way to support, because it’s my favorite way to keep up with you. Let us know how else we can support you; I’ve been a reader for years and years and am so thankful for your hard work, style, and philosophy of inclusiveness and social responsibility. We need more people like you and your team. xo

  • Thanks, this is actually really helpful. I’ve been receiving daily digests through FeedBlitz, and I always thought those were ads you placed. I’m glad to hear they aren’t, because some of them are really disturbing. I’m grateful to know I can get the same service through a newsletter you control.

I know. That’s what we don’t support or recommend them in any way. I could go on and on about all the ways in which services like that are problematic, but I think you hit the nail on the head. I’m so sorry about the ads that run on platforms like that- not only do we not see any money from those advertisements off our content, but we don’t agree with or support a lot of the ads and messaging services like that run.

      • I just received my first official d*s daily digest. If ever possible, a great upgrade would be to lead each excerpt with a photo. I usually click through to an article based on my interest in the image. I get direct news feeds from Colossal, Design Files, and Messy Nessy Chic that have embedded images. Just an idea! You are doing great work!!
